Cohort
A cohort is a group of 5-15 individuals who meet regularly for relational support, accountability, and care. They are our network's basic building block—the smallest fractal.
The primary purpose of cohorts is to provide a container for depth of relationship and mutual care for ministers.
Cohorts are self-organized and independent, allowing freedom, creativity, and diversity of expression.
Rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all model, cohorts will collaborate on a Cohort Canvas—a flexible template used to self-organize and shape processes and practices. Cohorts can use this canvas to clarify shared expectations, identify learning goals and pathways, determine meeting logistics, set membership guidelines, and more.
Chapter
A chapter is a group of 5-15 cohorts organized by geography and/or affinity that gathers at least once annually to foster connection and collaboration.
Chapters are the largest relational unit within the network. By intentionally limiting their size to what genuine relationships can sustain, we reduce bureaucracy and prevent the concentration of power in any single individual or group.
Chapters are responsible for credentialing, maintaining membership and professional standards, and creating opportunities for shared resourcing and partnership among congregations and organizations.
Each chapter is also independent and self-organized and will collaborate on a Charter, which serves as the chapter’s guiding document and part of its application for membership in the network.
Network
All cohorts and chapters come together to form the Wild Fig Network ecosystem through a shared commitment to our collective purpose and guiding principles.
A Network Base of Operations will function as a dedicated service organization to support and nurture this ecosystem.
The Base of Operations will:
Review chapter charters to ensure alignment with the network’s purpose and principles.
Host an annual gathering for celebration and collaboration on vision and collective action for the movement.
Provide comprehensive organizational and infrastructure support services for the entire network, such as benefits, technology platforms, financial and legal services, and annual network gatherings.
